A Tool To Help You To Make The Healthy Choice.
Dear Reader,
Let's file this under technology meeting healthier eating. Sometimes it's hard to know what is the healthiest option to choose for a snack, meal or recipe, but making these choices is now easier than ever... thanks to technology. Last year internet giant Google quietly introduced a tool that lets you compare nutrition information on two foods, in an easy to read, side-by-side format so you can see how they stack up. The tool has been improved since the initial launch so that you get calories,
sugar content, fat, calcium, iron and much more on any two foods.
The Google tool is super easy to use, you type "compare spinach and broccoli", or whatever two foods you like, hit enter and a side-by-side comparison shows up atop the results. Easy to read, all right there. You can try comparing fruits, or two completely different foods... there's no limit to how you can use this tool. Satisfy your curiosity or come up with strange (and perhaps wonderful) food
combinations.
Modern technology makes this handy food tool available on your smart phone, tablet or a desktop computer so you can compare foods anytime, anywhere. The handy little tool also makes it easier to check information on liquor and wine, as well as standard serving sizes of typical foods. The data is gathered by Google from the USDA's National Nutrient Database, but is checked against multiple sources on the internet that Google has decided are reliable.
The food comparison tool was
created and improved in response to Google searches, some multi-step, for nutrition information on all kids of popular foods we eat everyday. The company decided to make this popular search process even easier. Now you can use the tool when you shop to choose the healthiest option possible. What's more, imagine the help this tool can be with meal planning. There's also drop down menus that lets you change portion size or prep and cooking method to see what it does to nutrients.
It's good
to know that Google's search algorithm is always looking for what might be useful whenever you ask a question. Recipes will show up along with your food comparisons when you use this tool. Some sound pretty tasty too.

A Tool To Help You To Make The Healthy Choice. Continued...
Google also introduced another food search tool just recently. This one helps you access restaurant menus more quickly. Just type in "show me the menu for _______" and Google will show you the menu. How cool is that... and great for planning to make healthier eating choices while out and about. Google has access to the restaurant menus of 75% of the places in the United States, with surely more to follow. This makes eating out less of a challenge to your healthy eating goals.
There
are also other food information tools that are in the works to handle more complicated foods or recipes. The company is looking to give as many answers to as many complex questions as they can. Good thing for all of us looking to try and make healthier food choices on the go. As more and more fitness apps come on the market, look for faster, better ways to keep track of what you eat, how active you are and even more, keeping in mind that technology is a tool - you still need to take action and
an exercise of willpower is involved.
To your good health,
